Sweet Dreams!

“Sweet Dreams!” is an idiom used to express good wishes for pleasant dreams at night. Scientists hypothesize that dreams influence our reality. So, wouldn’t it be in our best interest to dream something beneficial, productive, or positive?
Bill: This nighttime amusement park image reminds us of dreaming. Flashing lights, loud music, children laughing, seabirds squawking, and the smell of popcorn—sounds like a dream destination for any kid, right?
Dreaming is common, but not everyone remembers their dreams. How about you? Humans typically dream for two hours each night—about seven years over a lifetime! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could tap into that time to improve our lives?
Sheri: I remember several dreams a week. Some fade quickly, while others stick with me for years.
When songwriting, I get immersed in lyrics and melody, sometimes dreaming of fine-tuning them. When I wake, I apply those ideas to my music. Maybe that’s lucid dreaming…not sure, but it’s definitely a positive part of my creative process.
Bill: I like the beach and still think of it fondly. I have dreams of playing in the ocean, body surfing. I ride big, beautiful waves like a champ, but get knocked down by the sneaky ones. I get sandy, salty and soaked.
Sheri: Then there are the other dreams—rescuing people or escaping disasters. Think Indiana Jones but without his skills or a remote to change the channel when it gets too scary. Maybe I should focus on songwriting dreams instead—they’re way more satisfying!
In a nutshell (or pillowcase?), our vivid thoughts before sleep may shape the thrilling feature films we conjure under the covers.
