Start, Stop, Refresh...

“Start, stop, refresh…start, stop, refresh—that’s the life cycle that keeps you in balance. Just like a traffic light, we want it green when we are in a hurry--places to see and people to do. Then the annoying red-light flashes. But it quickly can become just the right opportunity to pause, take a deep breath and grab a snack from the stash on the nearby seat. You know, “the pause that refreshes.”
Bill: How do you feel about traffic lights? Most of us prefer “green” over “red”. I managed to capture a green light and the magnificent sun in one image, two of my favorite things. In reality, we need both a green and a red light, plus a refresh - that slight pause before setting off again, to keep traffic in balance.
(FYI, I took this shot one summer evening in downtown Atlanta while on the 14th street bridge. The sunset was yellow. The sky was red. And to be legal, I waited for the light to turn green. It seemed like a story at the time.)
Sheri: We have many starts and stops each day which become way more productive when some “refreshes” are thrown in, like reading a novel or watching a movie.
Taking time to refresh is necessary for supporting good physical and mental health. By “taking a break” you feel rejuvenated, ready to start again with better energy, productivity and focus.
What’s your favorite way to refresh? Coffee, Redbull, do your nails, read a novel, call a friend, take a walk, count your blessings? Sleep tight! 😊
