“Persistence goes a long way toward achieving your goals.”
Ducks, like most living creatures, try to eat and drink on a regular basis--a good habit to have. They are continually upending themselves in search of food, and, happy when they are successful at it (happy as a duck).Their persistence goes a long way toward achieving their goals.
Bill: Enjoy my ducking duck? I took this picture at Stone Mountain Park a couple years ago. "Donald’s" persistence was entertaining, worthy of capturing the moment, and pondering what could be down there that was so tasty.
We humans also have the physical survival instinct (not to duck!) to fill our tummies and quench our thirst. But we have so many more things we want to accomplish; salads to toss, gardens to grow, fires to extinguish, bulls to ride, children to raise, careers to hone, and stories to write, just to name a few.
Bill: Most of us have been taught that if we want to do a thing well, we should practice often and at least think about it frequently. That’s where my head was at in middle school and high school—sports were always on my mind (Well, I do seem to remember also spending a lot of time thinking about girls…)
Sheri: Hmm….I can think of many times where I lacked persistence. And the result? Not so great…argh. I find that I am most successful when I set and focus on daily goals rather than large goals – just a little bit each day.
Yep--small victories work! Is what you are doing today getting you closer to your goals? We hope so. 😊 Happy ducking!
