Dress for success…

Astronaut suits on exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia represent readiness for success in our United States manned space missions. You can almost see the astronauts in them, ready for takeoff! Reminds us of how you can make educated guesses about what folks are up to just by the outfits they wear.  

Bill:  Yep…. just check out a few doctors, lawyers, butchers, bakers and candlestick makers, as they wear outfits identifying who they are.   And, of course at this time of year we encourage the success of our favorite football teams by wearing their colors on game day. Go Dawgs!

Sheri:   It’s fun to “people watch”, see how they literally wear their personal lifestyle stories on their sleeves, dressing for the role of the moment.  Shakespeare said: "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts." Pretty sure the men and women each had a different outfit to cover each part they played.          

You might be thinking “dress for success” just applies to a career you are in, but it’s more than that. When we dress in the morning, and choose our outfit, we are subconsciously and/or consciously choosing our mission of the day. It’s like dressing for success.    

Sheri:  Hm, I guess that’s true: If I put on my workout clothes when I first get up, there’s a better chance that I will successfully focus on fitness that day.

Bill: And there are some places that choose how we dress for us, like when we go to a restaurant that has a sign saying, “No shoes, No shirt; No service!” (Funny, it didn’t mention anything about pants.)  

Part of our enjoyment of the Oct Highland Games at Stone Mountain Park is checking out all the fun outfits…they play an important role in the success of the event. (see our article from last week “Raise the Bar”)
