Behind The Song - "Ever Since Hello"

Sheri: "I started writing songs in the early 80’s. Almost immediately an opportunity to further my music career presented itself with a husband-wife music promoter team who had just relocated to Atlanta from Branson Missouri. They had successfully worked with Charlie Pride, and they wanted to help me launch my career in Nashville--seemed like a dream come true! However, being recently divorced and raising 3 young kids on my own, job stability and a steady income won out. Ever the realist, I carefully packed away my songs. I wasn’t sure what I would be able to do with them in the future, but I was hopeful.
Fast forward to 2009, when my life took another jag—kids were now adults, career was firmly in place, and partner of 20 years was no longer in the picture. I bought a keyboard and guitar and dived back into music and song writing. “Ever Since Hello” was one of the songs I wrote in those first 4 months, born out of my life rejuvenation. While personally I wasn’t looking or even in the market for a permanent relationship at this juncture, I did know what that relationship should “feel like”, and “Ever Since Hello” expressed that sentiment. And just maybe I could innately sense what was right around the corner...
Just nine songs and 4 months later, there he was: Bill appeared on the scene, and we just clicked. We both knew almost immediately that our relationship was “it”, and we married a year and a half later. During this very busy period of learning the ins and outs of our new relationship, I did write a few more songs, recorded a few melodies, and captured a line or two of lyrics, but once again I just stacked everything neatly in the office for future use.
By the end of 2012, fully settled into our marriage, we began long term planning as to how we were going to create value going forward. We decided we wanted to be entertainers and connect with others as “Sheri & Bill”, using our writing skills, photography skills and our music skills. I dusted off my keyboard and guitar and began writing songs again.
Looking for inspiration one morning, I dug through the music stack in my office and pulled out "Ever Since Hello". Reading over the lyrics I wrote in 2009, I knew it would be a good song for us to sing, especially if I added a verse just for Bill based on his "pre-Sheri" dating experiences.

Your special love is all that I need.”
Bill: When Sheri and I perform this song, the audience feels our on-stage and in life connection, and we feel it too…we always get very positive feedback.
Sheri: And we were off! “Ever Since Hello” became our first recorded original “Sheri & Bill” song We chose Root Cellar Music Studio, owner and producer Rob Kuhlman to record, mix and master our song. Along with recording, mixing and mastering our song, Rob also helped us hone our recording skills and arrange this song to better lock in our “Sheri & Bill” sound. This song marked the beginning of our music collaboration with Rob and Root Cellar Music Studio. Co-producing, recording, mixing, mastering, and playing bass and electric guitar on our recorded songs are just some of the many quality contributions Rob has provided since 2014.
We released “Ever Since Hello” on our first album “In Balance and On Track” in April 2015, a collection of some of our favorite cover songs plus this first original, “Ever Since Hello”.

Although we were happy with our newly released song, we decided we wanted to try recording a more upbeat version, so we returned to Root Cellar Studio just a few months later. Rob brought in drummer and percussionist Larry Blewitt and world renown organist Ike Stubblefield, master of the Hammond B-3 Organ...fantastic results!
We released “Ever Since Hello (2015)” Sept 2015 on our EP “Better As We Go” . “Ever Since Hello” charted 2 months in a row in the “The Music Review - Top 40 Independent Country Songs”
